The Winter White Russian Dwarf Hamster is 3/5-4 inches long. Life span if 1 1/2-2 years. Color is dark grey with a black stripe on its back. In winter the fur sometimes changes to white.

Although they are nocturnal, they can sometimes be active daytime for short periods. These hamsters can do well when raised together. They have good dispositions and are good pets. Because of their size, care should be taken when handling them.

This dwarf hamster can squeeze through the bars on wire cages, so an aquarium with a secure mesh top is recommended. Bedding can be aspen shavings or shredded paper.

Hamster mixes are available at your pet store. You can give an occasional treat of fruit or veggies, but no onion, potato or veggie leaves. Always have fresh water available.
